Infertility: Clomid Recap – 100mg (IUI Treatment One)

From what I read this medication was supposed to be a doozy! I went in prepared and willing to take on what ever side effects this medication threw my way knowing that this is what I had to endure to try and get the results that we wanted. Going through all of this really put some things in perspective for me… I mean, it is crazy what I woman is willing to do/with her body to become a Mother. Never in my life did I expect to be poked and prodded, examined and invaded, but this was the hand I was dealt so I am determined to make it through.

I was prescribed to take 100mg of Clomid at the same time every day, for five days (cycle day 3 – 7) and this was my experience:

Day 1: No real side effects, just a bit dizzy.

Day 2: Felt great during the day with a lot of energy. Overnight I started having issues staying asleep as well as some anxiety. I also found myself experience nausea and hot flashes.

Day 3: I woke up very tired and groggy with a heavy feeling in my head. After my morning coffee I began to feel a lot better and regained some energy. After taking my dose today, I only felt groggy for a few hours but it soon subsided.

Day 4: Wow, what a difference one day can make! I slept through the night with no side effects and I woke up feeling great. After lunch I started to go downhill and started feeling really tired and heavy (it is a hard feeling to describe) but that subsided after about an hour and all was well the rest of the day.

Day 5: I slept well last night only waking up one time while experiencing a hot flash. I woke up with a lot of energy and felt great throughout the day.

Bottom Line

I experienced quite a few symptoms and at times they were pretty bad. Despite that, I would take this medication again if it proves to be successful in doing what it is intended to do.
