Date nights are an essential part of keeping the spark alive in your marriage. I think even more so when you have children, but I don’t have any so hey what do I know, haha… juuuuust kidding! No but really, it’s important!
Jon and I make it a point to have date night every Friday night. Friends want to do something on Friday night? Nope, sorry date night. Family wants to get together on Friday? Nope, sorry date night. Need to stay late at work on Friday? Nope, sorry date night. You get it, unless it is something super important, or out of our hands like a business trip, our time, our date night is Friday night. This simple dedication, putting each other above all else one night a week helps to solidify our priority, our marriage.
Date night gives us the time to really connect and purely focus on one another although I think we could do a better job. Eventually I’d like to have our cell phones put away, but that’s a work in progress, in this day and age, we are all so connected to our phones.
Bottom line – set aside a time where you dedicate your time to your marriage and your spouse.
