Cooking: Hot Chocolate (Traditional and Keto Style)

Ever since I can remember, my Momma would make us the best homemade hot chocolate.  It was always my favorite and so much better than that packaged stuff you can buy in the store.  Once on Keto, I really realized that her traditional version would not work for me, but a revised version sure would!  So I asked her for the recipe and made some little changes and what do you know, it was delicious!  I will share both versions with you so that depending on your preference, you have some options!

Keep in mind, this recipe is for two, but you can reduce or add to accommodate the amount of servings you are making.

Keto Ingredients:

Traditional Ingredients:

  • 2 Cups Milk
  • 1-1/2 Teaspoons of Regular Cocoa Powder (Hershey Brand)
  • 3 Teaspoons Sugar
  • A Splash of Vanilla Extract
  • A Sprinkle of Cinnamon
  • Whipped Cream for Topping

These measurements are purely suggestions and I encourage you to add or take away ingredients to meet your preferences.

Step 1:  Add the milk (whipping cream & almond milk) to a saucepan and turn the heat to low

Step 2:  Add the coco powder and wisk until smooth

Step 3:  Add the sugar (swerve), vanilla extract and cinnamon

Step 4:  Continue to wisk until the sugar has dissolved.

Step 5:  Once brought to a low boil, remove from the heat and serve right away

Step 6:  Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon

Step 7:  Enjoy
